“A Poem about Your Laugh” by Susan Glickman compare’s the subjects laugh to a variety of different elements. The use of symbols and imagery is very clear throughout this poem. In the first verse she wrote, “When you laugh it is all the unsynchronized clocks in the watchmakers shop striking their dissident hours”. Symbolizing that the subjects laugh is loud, incalculable and unique. The next verse symbolizes that the subjects laugh is extremely powerful and life-changing, as it has the ability to ‘alter the ecosystem.” The author’s use of this imagery turns the subjects laugh into something more radical and exceptional.
