Compton put AEM right in the middle of the tuner market, and they took advantage of that by using their technical knowledge and creativity to help everyone make their cars go faster. Co-owner, John Concialdi, came from the R&D department of Weber Carburetors, and he applied that experience into making AEM a preferred modifier choice. He saw a need and decided to dedicate his career to filling the need. Since there were no commercial bolts and studs at the time, it was up to him to design, develop and manufacture a fastener that would keep the engines together. Since his personal experience included making fasteners for an aerospace subcontractor, he used his vast experience to found ARP.
