A Promising Future Ahead Hope is the glue that connects people from their present state to their goals and dreams in the future. In a society where people are more likely to be diagnosed with depression and anxiety, rather than a simple sickness, hope is the true medicine that will heal broken hearts. It is the motivation and activation of a person’s dreams to come into picture and become a reality. In F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, Jay Gatsby exhibits hopefulness through his actions of sacrificing family for wealth and love, and by being confident in himself. Gatsby showed hope when he left behind his poor family in Minnesota in order to gain great wealth and win the heart of his true love, Daisy. Gatsby had to eagerly trust that
