Chapter five {BAD BOY} takes place in, 1947 which was a big time for blacks to play sports. The famous people of that time were Jackie Robertson, and Larry dobby. This was also a time in Walter’s life where he met new people, and he became a big sports fan. On page thirty- seven Walter talks about how he met his father {George Myers} who was a smallish brown skinned man, and met his brother Mickey who had slightly reddish hair and about Walters’s height. After the summer was over, and September came around, on page forty- one Walter was moved to public school forty-three because of his behavior at public school one-twenty-five. On page forty-nine, Walter tells us that after a protest was held by the church, many black people were allowed to work in stores, which changed Harlem dramatically. The streets felt more alive after all the color, and music was influenced. This was also a difficult time Walter because of his passion for sports, and his passion for reading. On page fifty-two Walter tells us that he was picked on because of his passion, and he knew that he had to keep his passion a secret. Although Walter seemed like a nice kid, he would sometimes get it to mischief. On page sixty Walter was walking down the street when he noticed a cab, and decided to ride on the back bumper. As Walter was trying to get off of the bumper, but his shirt has caught in the trunk. When the drivers stopped the car at a stop sign, Walter had broses from the waist down, and finally decided to go home. When Walter interred his house, he decides not to tell his parents about his injuries. Later that evening Walters father noticed that Walter wasn’t looking good, so Walter’s father told him to take of his close. After his father saw his injuries, he was furious and wanted to know what happened. His mother and father were both surprised by his answer which Sayed that Walter’s mother beat him with a stick. After this the family was never be that same
