“DAMN MY EGGS DAMN ALL THE EGGS THAT EVER WAS!” (34). Walter is the father of the younger family in the book A Raisin In The Sun written by Lorraine Hansberry he is caring, but often find quarrel with other family members. He cares for the family and works to support them. The family suffers poverty and has little money left after paying for the essentials. The family is kind, hard working, and family means everything. The family consists of Mama the eldest of the Younger family. Walter is the son of Mama and the main provider for the family. He has a sister named Beneatha who also lives with them, and she is going to school to become a nurse. Walter's wife is Ruth, they have one son and she is pregnant. Travis is the son of Walter and Ruth, and is 10-11 years old. Walter has a dream of opening a liquor store and is displeased with his current job of a chauffeur. throughout the book Walter is selfish and focuses on himself, he is so focused on his dream he ignores everyone else. …show more content…

The book states that he "is a intense young man in his thirties."(11). Through out the book Walter cares about his family, but he puts them aside when it come to his own interest he often puts the family members aside. This causes conflict throughout the house. When getting in a fight about how Walter want to open a liquor store he gets upset and, he will not except he opinion. When she tries to move on a avoid conflict his response is “See I’m trying to talk to you 'bout myself (Shaking his head with the repetition) and all you can say is eat them eggs and go to work.” (34). This gives reason to believe that Walter is not willing to avoid conflict or listen to Ruths advice. He only wishes to talk about
