Driving while Stupid A lot of us have seen terrible drivers where we live and probably believe that it couldn’t be worse anywhere else when it came to stupid drivers, Dave Berry argues otherwise. He states in the first paragraph of this excerpt that “I-95 in downtown Miami, proud home of the worst darned drivers in the world” (Berry 571). Dave then goes on to argue why he thinks these people are the worst drivers in the world. He starts by stating that he has ‘driven in every major U.S. city, including Boston, where the motorists all drive as though there us an open drawbridge just ahead, and they need to gain speed so they can jump across it” (Berry 571). Someone who has driven all over the world has had many experiences with bad drivers and should be able to determine who’s the worst of the worst. Berry goes on to tell the story of why he thinks this. He makes an exaggeration when he says that a car was overtaking him at 600 mph but nevertheless it safe to say it was probably zooming past him. He says he was” weaving back and forth across five lanes (out of three possible)” (Berry 572). The swerving driver couldn’t see where he was going because he was watching a video screen that had been installed where the visor would be. I don’t know about you but I have never seen a driver careless enough to do this. Miami drivers must be the worst at this point?
