In the article, Hit Charade, the author Nathaniel Rich, gives a behind-the-scenes look on the magic behind all the pop hits through the years. From Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys in the mid 90`s to Taylor Swift and Maroon 5 in the early 2000`s, Karl Martin Sandberg was behind it all. The author describes multiple scenarios and cases in which people have produced songs for famous artist, in which they preformed and taken most of the credit, in order for the pretentious appeals of the article to work effectively. The article was published in the October 2015 issue focusing on the unknown composers who are actually behind the success of some songs that hit the top charts. “The biggest pop star in America today is a man named Karl Martin Sandberg” (Rich 1). Karl Martin Sandberg is the most well known in America out of the group of creators as he was the lead singer in a glam-metal band and went on to compose for larger pop stars like Taylor Swift. Along with Karl Sandberg other creators are Stargate, Dr. Luke, and Ester Dean who also contributed with creations to help artists, such as David Guetta, Fifth Harmony, and Nicki Minaj to make the top charts. The Hit Charade`s author Nathaniel Rich uses The Song Machine, written by John Seabrook, to give a logical example of the types of works that the younger generation would avoid due to how ancient the reading is but also how lucrative it is to success in the pop culture
