Steve Jobs, the creator of numerous multi-billion dollar companies including Pixar Animation, NeXT, and Apple said in his commencement address on June 12, 2005, “Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don’t lose faith”. This inspiring leader of technology and business sadly passed away on October 5, 2011. Jobs’ name expanded vastly across the world because of his amazing and impactful work. His determination throughout the years resulted in significant advancements and led to some of the technology we use every day. At the beginning of the speech, he mentions his background, the fact that he never graduated from college, and how the road to success was not easy. He expresses that even with a troubled background, you can be successful and this provides hope and encouragement to the audience. Although he has experienced many troubles, he found a way to conquer his difficulties and he wants his audience to follow in his footsteps. Travis adds, “The audience only knows a successful man standing on that stage, not the humble one that is willing to admit the road has been tough” (2013).
