Rhetorical Analysis of ¨The Secret¨ The Secret is a movie that focuses on the ways to become successful. The film contains tips to become a wealthy and happy person. While watching the movie, there was a significant number of logical appeals used throughout. To begin, they used pathos, or an appeal to emotion, by making the audience feel that they are in control of what they want. For example, they said, ¨Whatever you 're feeling and thinking is what makes your future.¨ by stating this, they are saying that you are making your decisions making you feel in power and positively about yourself. The Secret also uses ethos, or an appeal to ethics, by incorporating ethos into the movie it makes the audience feel that the speaker truly knows what he is talking about. The movie had a speaker named Jack Canfield who is an entrepreneur, with him discussing the topic of wealth everyone listens closely because he has learned how to run a business and become successful. Even though The Secret uses people who have the knowledge and background on success, I feel that they don 't know everything about the secret. Everything that The Secret tells us to do is to wish and hope, but what about all the hard work you need to do in order to become successful. In my opinion, you can 't go to bed one night poor and wake up the next day and be successful, you have to work for it. ¨Proper scientific tests of the power of belief to cure serious illness, however have been universal negative, some claim to have been positive.¨ (Carroll 2). The author is expressing how the tests of The Secret helped very little, but for some it worked. The results from the tests help prove to me that it isn 't real, it is all in your head. Overall, I think The Secret had lots of examples dealing with logical appeals and fallacies, but I still think the effectiveness was not strong
