Grief can turn someone from being outgoing and happy to shy and conceded, showing that the effects of grief can be far-reaching and can impact us in various ways. First, with the loss of her father, she goes into denial the ladies of the town to visit her to help mourn his loss and when they show up she greets them as if nothing had happened stating “Miss Emily met them at the door, dressed as usual and with no trace of grief on her face. She told them that her father was not dead. She did that for three days,”. Eventually, she accepts her father's death, but this affects her for the rest of her life.
