How does Gene’s envy and imitation FInny affect him and his relationship with Finny? A Seperate Peace by John Knowles is about a set of boys in New England in the early years of World War ll.Major battles Gene admires and district Finny’s mental and physical brilliance,feeling both love and hate for his buddy.Gene Froster was thirty when he went back to visit his old school called,’’Devon School.’’Gene is a clever and thoughtful person.His friend Finny, who he loves and envies, he forms a love and hate realtionship.A Seperate Peace shoes how Gene’s envy and imintation of Finny affect him, affect his realtionship with Finny and achievement of peace.

For example,his relationship towards Finny was that it made Gene very envious of Finny's skills,looks and personality.According to the book it states,’’ Now I knew that there never was and never could have been any rivalry between us.I was not of the same quality as he.I couldnt stand this’’(Knowles 59).It states how Gene is afraid of Finny’s kindness of heart adn his honesty of purpose than suddenly realizing that his best friend has better behavor than he has Gene private conversation as his knees drops and the limb starts shaking.Gene leaves the matter of his guilt out in the air by refusing to tell us.Gene Froster beguns to have growing feelings of jealousy and envy for Finny.Jealously towards Gene Froster starts to increase .He eventually dies as a reslut of his growing anger towards Finny.According to A Seperate Peace by John Knowles it states,’’ Holding firmly to the truck,I took a toward him,and then my knees bent and I jounced the link’’ (Knowles 60).After Gene apologies honestly and admits to waving the branch to Finny,he loves Gene’s truthless and accepts his forgiveness.Given that he and Finny were able to repair there partnership,Gene is at peace and pleasure.While Finny died, he recognized how his own fustration was to blame for his greatest friends loss.Gene realize s that Finny didnt do much to save his life as he did almost kill him.Becuase he
