Jon Spoelestra’s Ice to the Eskimos was very interesting and informative. Throughout the entire book, Spoelestra reflected upon the experiences and knowledge that he gained from working in the sports industry. One interesting aspect of the book was Spoelestra’s principle that organizations should design “an offer that consumers cannot refuse” (Spoelestra, 1997, p. 199). This was particularly interesting to me because of my interest in finance. Initially, I thought that if you make an offer too good, that you could potentially be losing out on some profit, however, after reading this book, this principle makes perfect sense.

In ice dogs by: Terry Lynn Johnson the main character, Victoria qualities of being independent and shy help to contribute to the theme that anyone can get along no matter how different and hard it is for them. According to the text, “if you hadn 't burnt it…”(113)she is saying in this quote that chris should have been more careful. this evidence Shows that she is a very independent person who wish she could have done it herself ,and this added to the theme by showing how hard this friendship is going to be. “ I never talked about dad”(179) this evidence is saying she doesn 't talk about her dad since his incident.
In the short story “What happened during the Ice Storm?” showed a theme of maturation using literary elements, specifically irony, symbolism, and the application of onomatopoeias were used to support the theme of maturation. The literary element irony is mostly used in the short story “What happened during the Ice Storm?” originally the boys wanted to hurt the pheasants like the author says, “They stood over the pheasants, turning their own heads, looking at each other, each expecting the other to do something. To pounce on a pheasant, or to yell Bang!” This quote is important because it showed the boys original intent; which was to hurt or kill the pheasants.
"The Snow Walker " is a tale of adventure and survival. A story about how the main characters are going to survive in Northern Territories of Canada after a plane crash. Set in the 1950s, it features an arrogant white pilot, Charlie Halliday, who was bribed with walrus tusks into taking a sick Inuit girl to a big city hospital. He is an ignorant racist. At the opening scene of the movie, we can see how he scoffed at being called "Brother" by an Inuit.

In Miracle on ice there were four major themes that stood out to me that I think really connects to the Gospel. The first major thing was loving. The way in the movie they Describe loving was being a family. Doing everything thing together always being there for each other when needed. Never letting each other down and doing the best they could for each other.
In the story “The Iceman Cometh,” James and his fellow campers addressed their many critical needs while on a challenging camping trip. One of the most essential needs was shelter. Against the harsh, frigid weather, each camper took turns shoveling snow into mounds as they built a quinzhee hut. After waiting for the snow to settle, the campers tunnelled through the dense ice from the inside of their makeshift hut.

In this essay, Sedaris writes about his growing up with an alcoholic mother and her mistreatment of her children with this addiction. Sedaris’ writing proves this statement by sharing about one particular day when school was canceled due to a snowstorm. Sedaris is a well-known writer, playwright and radio commentator whose work often has an autobiographical focus (Faigley 89).
I’m the first generation of my family to be Mexican -American, but I have been introduced to the Mexican culture since I was born. I appreciate the difficulties my parents have faced to make me the person that I am today even though I wasn’t born in Mexico my parents have taught me the language and the culture which I’m so proud of being part of. For others being Hispanic is actually being born in any Latin American countries which is not true at all. Being Hispanic is much more than my cultural background it actually describes how much I appreciate my culture and how I get to experience things other people don’t. I fit into the Hispanic community through the experiencing the culture first hand ,participating in traditions and planning to include my culture in my future.
Being Mexican people assume that I’m from Mexico, but little do they know that Mexican people can give birth in different places, I happened to be born in the state of Hawaii. In the Latino/Mexican culture you have different ways of doing things. For instance, celebrating a holiday or a birthday we say “Go Big Or Go Home”, we also celebrate Christmas on the 24th and we have a wonderful celebration for the becoming-of-age of a girl called a Quinceanera. One thing that can be hard about being a pure 100% Mexican is that we’re a single culture but we have so many various regions within Mexico that have different traditions and cultural diversity that everybody thinks we’re all basically the same. If I had been in Alicia’s shoes, I would also try to appreciate the Mexican culture more since I am Mexican-American. In my family I am one of the few who doesn’t really speak Spanish and I feel left out because of it. When I was in elementary, I would always use to speak Spanish since I had taken bilingual classes, but I would struggle with all of the state exams because they were mostly in English. I eventually learned how to speak more English and be more fluent to help myself get better taking these exams. My Spanish faded and I really didn’t appreciate my Mexican culture since everyone would only use the traditions here in America and I rarely saw any Mexican culture, only when I would see my grandma.

Director Bong Joon-Ho adeptly weaves black humor with fast-paced dramatic action, and utilizes the Marxist concepts of hegemony, interpellation, and commodity as spectacle, in order to paint a cautionary picture of a continuously capitalist future. The State in Snowpiercer relies upon a deeply entrenched ruling ideology that can be summed up by Minister Mason 's 7-Minute speech beginning with "This is not a shoe."
