Have you ever been in a situation where your choice could affect something big? In the stories “A Sound of Thunder” and “Being Prey”, the characters had to deal with just that. The characters have to overcome the setting, theme, and conflict of their stories. Val Underwood and Eckles both have to make a choice that could affect their lives, and whether or not they live them. “A Sound of Thunder” is about a man named Eckles traveling back in time to hunt and kill a dinosaur, or more specifically, a T-rex. In the story, Eckles decides to step off a track, which he was previously told not to do, and this choice ultimately effects everything when the group gets back to their time period. The theme of his story is, “Don’t go against nature”. In
