The purpose of this paper is to outline the use of technology to solve a particular business problem. Specifically, the paper will introduce you to A+ Tutoring and its mission. This will be followed by a discussion of the business problem and potential high level solutions. Next is a discussion of the benefits derived from implementing the proposed solution and whether a business or technical approach is more appropriate. It will then delve into the business process changes and describe how technology or business practices can be used to augment the solution. (GIA) predicting the global market for private tutoring to reach $196.3 billion by 2020 (Global Industry, 2014). GIA has done extensive analysis of the trends in the tutoring industry. They have attributed the explosive industry growth to the increasing enrollment in higher education. Parents are willing to pay for the services required to give their child a competitive edge over their peers (2014). The original concept for A+ Tutoring was for in-person tutoring at the location of the student’s choice. However, after developing a business plan, it became obvious that this wasn’t financially feasible and presented logistical challenges. Technology can assist A+ Tutoring with providing the services without requiring tutors to travel. A+ Tutoring will also require standard office software for scheduling and payroll.
