Explain how the character of Eddie is presented in “A View From the Bridge” Eddie, at the start of the play, is protective of Catherine and is presented as a fatherly figure. On Page 4, Eddie says, “you’re walkin’ wavy.” This shows that Eddie doesn’t approve of the way that she is walking as walking wavy implies that she is walking all over the place. It is strange that Eddie is looking at her as it shows that he has been looking at her walking. He also says that the men are “I don’t like the looks they’re giving you in the candy store. And with them new high heels on the sidewalk – clack, clack, clack. The heads are turning like windmills.” She seems to be like candy to the men of Red Hook and everybody is attracted to her, including Eddie.
