In Mary Wollstonecraft’s "A Vindication of the Rights of Woman," she argued that women should have the same rights and opportunities as men, particularly in the area of education. Wollstonecraft believed that educating women would not only improve their own lives, but also benefit society as a whole. Wollstonecraft argued that the lack of education for women was the root of their oppression and that by educating women, they would be able to break free from the societal constraints that held them back. Today, girls and women have significantly more opportunities to receive an education in first world countries than they did in Wollstonecraft's time. Gender discrimination in education has decreased significantly and many countries have implemented policies to ensure gender equality in education. In the past women were often denied access to education because of the basis of their gender. Another change in education for women in 2023 is the increased number of women pursuing higher education. Based on Erin Duffin research “39.1% of women in the United States completed 4 years of college and more.” Women are now more likely to attend college and graduate school than men due to the fact there aren’t that many trade jobs in the work field for …show more content…

However, there is still work to be done to fully realize Wollstonecraft's vision. We must ensure that education remains inclusive and accessible for all women, and that women's contributions are recognized and valued in all fields of study. Society needs to continue to build a place where women are truly equal to men in every way, including in education. Women still face discrimination and barriers in education, and it is important that we continue to work towards Wollstonecraft's vision of equality in education for women. By continuing to fight for women's rights, we can ensure that all women have the same opportunities and access to education as men, and that they are able to reach their full potential.
