The film was released on August 11, 2017 and features Brie Larson, Woody Harrelson, and Naomi Watts among others. The big question, “What do I think about “The Glass Castle” film? The film was dissatisfying overall, I did not feel same emotional attachment that I felt with the book. They did not show enough of Jeanette and Rex’s connection to each other.
In the book each chapter is written in a different person’s point of view. In this well written interesting book, Oats concentrates on the story of a slave who wanted to be free right from childhood. By using Turner as his main character, Oates creates a lot of pity on the predicament of slaves in the hands of their controlling masters. He frequently uses the word "n-gg-r" to stress the contempt under which Nat Tuner labored, or the word "darkie" to indicate how even the best of whites spoke patronizingly of blacks slaves. There are different occasions in the book where Nats’ life takes unfortunate twists.

The reader is informed of Hazel’s thoughts when she had forgotten why she had tears in her eyes. Before Harrison Bergeron flashed across the t.v. screen, George was thinking about his criminal son. Therefore, the reader is clued in to the thoughts of both Hazel and George Bergeron. Third person is distinct from other points of view, because the reader can look into the minds of every character, and the story is told unbiased.
The short story “A Wall of Fire Rising” by Edwidge Danticat has one of the several important settings, and it is the hot-air balloon. This air balloon belongs to the sugar mill owner’s son and catches everyone’s attention. Moreover, it has a great influence on one of the main characters of the story, the Guy, and it seems to be on his mind all the time. Every time he and his family walk across the sugar field, he stops by the fence which separates the air balloon from curious people and stares at the balloon for a while. Even his wife notices that and feels like the Guy is lost to her as he sees it, she sees him completely immersed in his thoughts (Danticat 238).
While reading The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, the relationship between Rex and Rose Mary walls and their children became to be very intriguing. Specifically how they raised their kids without holding anything back, an idea reinforced by a famous Walt Disney quote This quote describes how “trying to shield” children ) from reality” wouldn’t “do them any favor.” This idea was enforced by multiple occasions from the book which include letting Jeannette cook by herself at the age of 3, even after getting serious burns from cooking, letting the kids do whatever they wanted as long as they “Used common sense”, and the incident where Rex let Jeannette go upstairs with a stranger because he knew she could defend herself. The first incident revolves around how Jeannette was allowed to cook, even after having serious burns from from cooking. ”She had to get right back on the saddle.”
