A Wicked Problem That Is Relevant To Me Research Paper

A wicked problem that is relevant to me would the effects of Global warming. Global warming affects myself and every person in this planet. Based on the website NASA Global Climate Change, Global warming or Climate Change is caused by the amount of carbon dioxide and increased greenhouse gasses accumulating in the atmosphere that increase the amount of solar energy that the earth receives. Since the 19th century the planet’s average temperature has increased 2.0 degrees Fahrenheit and the warmest years have been recorded in the past 35 years. Global warming is caused by our behavior (burning fuel, greenhouses) might be very clear to some people, but there are different opinions about what causes global warming or if it’s even a real thing.

This creates a division to the meaning of global warming and its effects. If there is no clear understanding of what Global warming is in the first place, then its more difficult to find a solution. People either believe that Global warming is cause by humans or naturally. People’s news sources are mainly: Internet, TV, printed newspapers, and radio. There are some sources that can provide false information, which can influence people’s views of global warming. Religion and Education are another factor that can influence people’s perspectives. The majority of religious people “are more likely to believe in temperature rise and its human cause”, as well as those with a higher education who also “believe that it is human made”. On the other side, people with lower level of education “tend to view global warming as being naturally caused”. Research and data can be insignificant to some people based on their beliefs, educational level or other sources of information. This is just the outer layer of what makes this a “wicked” problem. The variety beliefs that exist about what global warming is and its cause. There are also different perspectives on how much damage it actually has on our planet. The first thing is social complexity and its importance to wicked problems. The different perspectives and beliefs that people have about global warming bring diversity to the project. Its complicated to talk about a problem were people are unsure of what its cause is or how dangerous it is to us. Even if we are working with people that believe in global warming there are people’s backgrounds and experiences that add to the social complexity. It is important as a leader to take into account this diversity and try to incorporate everyone in the project. Its also important to understand that “the more people involved in a collaboration, the more socially complex it is” (Peter), and this can also bring more chaos, confusion and chaos to the process. As a leader it’s essential to collaborate effectively amongst each other and work towards a deeper understanding of everyone’s ideas and concerns. By doing this, it would be easier to shift from blaming others to understanding their
