In the novel, A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L’Engle, the main character, Meg Murray, develops into an independent, courageous person throughout the story. At the beginning of the novel, Meg is really depressed and negative about the way she looks, acts, and does at school. I know this because on page #1 in the novel A Wrinkle in Time, Meg thinks to herself, “It’s the weather on top of everything else. On top of me. On top of Meg Murray doing everything wrong”. She says this as she is alone in her bedroom, thinking about her horrible day. Also on page #2, she thinks about how bad of a school day she had, and even how she got in a fight after school. This shows that Meg is depressed, because she is sitting on her bed, thinking about all the horrible things that she has done and what a ‘monster’ she is. This also shows that meg is always negative towards herself, because she is pointing out everything that is wrong with herself, such as her behavior, her looks, and how she is doing in school. …show more content…

It says this as Meg was desperately trying to save her little brother from the control of IT. This shows that Meg is determined to save her brother, because she is using all of her might to try and save him from the powers of IT.
