AMS Counselor met with Paient for a unscheduled individivial session. Counselor assisted Pt. to clarify his goals and discuss strategies for changing. Counselor encouraged Participant to verbalize a realistic description of his medication compliance, which he failed to do so yesterday. Pt. reported that he has been regularly taking his methadone medications as prescribed by AMS Doctor and responding as expected. Also, Pt. reported that he has been prescribed zoloft and Seroquel to treat his depression bipolar disorder and anxiety. Counselor and Pt. discussed his last quarter UDS and whether he has used drugs since the last session. Counselor explained how these drugs can have a very temporary positive impact on his mood, but in the long term it can cause big problems for his mental health such as anger, increase depression, etc. Pt. was encouraged to share any current concern in his recovery. Pt. stated that he got fired from the painting company. Pt. indicated that his girlfriend support him with this difficult situation. Pt stated that she acknowledged that he gave up a lot of his family time for this job. Counselor explained the concept of balance lifestyle and that’s important aspect in recovery. Also, Counselor told pt. the need to finding ways to balance work with treatment so he can give recovery his full effort. Pt. stated how he would like to confront his boss to find out why he fired him. Counselor used the ABC tool to stop feeling being victimized by his own thinking and changing his irrational belief in order to have better consequences with any life situations/issues. At the end of the session, Counselor and Pt. discussed the first three steps of ABC tool so he can respond better to his current problem and to make better
