I am writing to reflect on my high school math experience thus far and explain to you my interest in calculus specifically AP calculus BC. I am a highschool student with extensive practice in algebra, and geometry, advanced math, and precalculus material. I am eager to continue discovering new mathematical concepts and developing my skills with the AP Calculus BC class, particularly due to my fascination and drive for the subject, ability to challenge myself, and wanting to go above and beyond what is required. I am interested in exploring learning opportunities with calculus and being able to be an effective contributor to the AP Calculus BC class. AP calculus, no matter which level one takes, requires pre-calculus as a prerequisite class. Calculus uses concepts learned in algebra and geometry, advanced math and pre-calculus, and extends it by using certain ideas such as limits. AP calculus BC covers topics covered in AB plus additional topics such as polynomial approximations and series, series of constants and taylor series. In order to keep up with the pace, I believe that I have substantial skills to be a good fit for this class. During my high school career, I have acquired extensive knowledge in topics such as trigonometry and algebra. Topics that require conceptual learning rather than memorization usually become my best friend as I believe they are my strengths. Other than my academics, I possess great enthusiasm, commitment to excellence, and a sense of responsibility. My outgoing personality allows me to discuss and ask questions without hesitation.
