After the first semester, then I started picking up with speech and asset but was not that much. I started taking the science class from the second semester. Some of the topics were okay to go with and some were hard and difficult.
For example, this semester I am taking Honors World History, Chorus 2, and AP Chemistry. Though I struggle in some of these courses, I spend countless nights studying to maintain a 4.1 G.P.A. It wasn’t the hard class or the teacher or my studying style, but it was my mentality that was holding me back. I thought that what I had was confidence, when it was really just arrogance. That arrogance blinded me from the fact that AP calculus BC isn’t a typical high school course, it’s an actual college level course. It dawned to me that
Have you ever heard the saying "it was a bump in the road"? These speed bumps can make people go two different directions. Either it sends them careening off the road, or they go over it and keep moving forward. For college students, this bump is prerequisite classes. Depending on who you ask, these classes could be either a dirty word or the only way to success (Reed).
Thanks to the knowledge I have gained from the education system so far, I know how to successfully count to 100, sing my ABCs, and write a 10-page paper about Odysseus from the Odyssey. However, during this new chapter in my life, I’ve learned how to do laundry, order take-out, and write a 5-page page paper about weather phenomena while cramming for a chemistry final all in the same night. This semester and for the rest of my college career, I want to learn more subjects that challenge me such as matrix algebra and Micrometeorology. Challenges are what make us stronger. Its where we learn our strengths and weaknesses.
Here’s the deal: I ended up taking AP Music Theory over Organic Chemistry my senior year of high school. Did people tell me that was wrong to do because I want a career involving chemistry? Yes. Do I regret it? Absolutely not.
My freshman year of high school was difficult for me to adjust to and I did not perform to the best of my ability on my biology honors midterm. Due to this discrepancy, I was unable to be accepted into the Science Honor Society in junior year. Although disappointed that a singular grade had the ability to decide a part of my future two years later, I continued to work hard, especially in my science courses. Junior year, I decided to challenge myself and take an AP Physics course, even though I had never taken a physics course prior. This class was excruciatingly demanding and a new experience for someone who had never taken an AP class before.
A to P: Advanced Placement Course and Their Beneficiality At the end of every year of high school, students get a lengthy list of courses to pick for the next year. Among the list are numerous AP courses that students ponder over. The common question asked by these students are, is that AP class worth taking? Some don’t think twice to take it and others bravely choose their AP course of choice.

I took my first AP class during my sophomore year. The class was AP Biology which was incredibly difficult, but with hard work I was able to succeed. The year after I decided to enroll in AP Chemistry. I thought that if I was able to succeed in Biology, I would have no problem succeeding in Chemistry. The first week of junior year arrived along with AP Chemistry.

The next question I asked was, what is the biggest obstacle you have overcame. “Taking AP Chemistry, I really struggled and was failing at one point. I knew I had to do better so I really challenged myself and asked my teacher for help, started going to tutoring after school, and studied more. I ended up with a B in the class”, he said.
