Brenner’s assessment tool is an important tool that the registered nurse can use to evaluate their own strengths and weaknesses throughout their process of becoming an APN (Joel, 2013, p.522). Strengths As a nurse a few of my greatest strengths are that of compassion, caring and being detailed oriented. The greatest asset available to us as nurses that helps to enhance our strengths is the plethora of evidence based knowledge that we have at our fingertips to aid in our day to day care. This knowledge aids in confidence and motivation in Weakness According to Benner's model I would consider my greatest weakness is that I am a novice with no experience, but I am dedicated to continuous learning. One weakness that I had when I first was a nurse was that of being disorganized. I have since improved in this area and I have also carried a better process of organizing myself over to my home life.
