Ever since I was little, I have grown up in an ASU supporting household. I have lived my entire life in the West Valley, specifically Goodyear, Arizona. My mom, being a former graduate, always made sure that we watched football games and stayed updated on any other information regarding her former school. As I progressed from my early education to graduating from high school, this pro-ASU influence influenced my decision to attend Arizona State University. The other main factor of attending Arizona State was the proximity of the campus to my hometown. When applying for colleges, Arizona State University was one of the few in-state colleges I applied to, but ultimately became the best college for me when considering all of the factors. In an ideal world, I would strive to rise through the sports management ladder to eventually become General Manager of a professional sports franchise either here locally with any of the major sports franchises or serving the same role overseas for a professional soccer team. As a longtime soccer player and an avid sports fan, I would love to see my passion turn into my dream job. I have long understood this to be one of the hardest industries to get into. As a result, I have tried to be proactive in terms of networking with any connections I know. For example, when I was serving as President of the National Honor Society at Millennium High School this past year, I was able to connect with the Senior Membership Experience Specialist of the Phoenix Suns and Mercury, Chris Moran, for our annual partnership between the two organizations. After high school ended, I reached out to Chris to see if I could shadow him for a day to see what a career in sports looks like on a day-to-day basis. It was here that he told me that even reaching out to him was one of the most important things that I could be doing if I wanted to showcase myself as a potential intern candidate. He shared with me his path to working in sports, as well as some of the essential features of candidates hoping to work alongside him and his colleagues.
