The company became AT&T in 1875 among Alexander Graham Bell, Gardiner Hubbard and Thomas Sanders. Soon later in 1877, the Bell Telephone Company was invented by the three men. Three years after the company was started, telephone plants were in major areas of the United States. Then in 1882, American Bell began manufacturing the system and they owned most of the licenses. This lead to the Bell Telephone Company to be named the Bell System. In 1885, the American Telephone and Telegraph Company paid to build the long distance telephone networking. In result, in 1892, the company known as AT&T had buildings in New York, Chicago and in 1915, San Francisco. These were a systems and equipment company, a computer company, and a communications service company. It is said that it was the largest voluntary split in history. This “new” AT&T company went from focusing on long distance to beaming a communications company. Four years later, AT&T company invested over 30 billion dollars in upgrades to their functions. They did this to establish local connections to certain business. In result of this, the AT&T company became the leading company to provide for business customers. In 2000, many networks were supported through AT&T. These include, data, wireless and broadband. It was made known to the public in 2000 that the company would name these networks separately as AT&T, AT&T Wireless, and AT&T Broadband. This would help connections through the businesses. However, a few years later, a new Chief Executive Officer became in charge of the company. This led to instability throughout the company. His leadership lead to fraud and oversupply. AT&T business began having bankruptcies and many workers lost their jobs. The new Chief Executive Officer decided to fix the problem by changing the company’s customer-oriented voice company to an enterprise-focused company. Today, AT&T company focuses on giving their customers, such as, business and government, traditional services. They also focus on delivering networking technologies throughout the world.
