The prominent company we know as AT&T acquired its name American Telephone and Telegraph Company in 1876. In 1991 the company acquired a computer maker, NCR corporation, and in 1993 McCaw Cellular Communications, Inc., renaming it AT&T Wireless. Other acquiring’s and mergers through the years have made AT&T Inc. what it is today. AT&T is organized into four operating segments: wireless, wireline, advertising solutions, and other subsidiaries. Today AT&T handles up to half of the wireless traffic because of iPhone data requirements. Even with declining revenue AT&T has a steady revenue growth through its wireless segment.

International coverage is handled through Wireline, provides voice, data, and other services and is available at wholesale value. Having great coverage and data customers are more likely to choose AT&T over lower prices wireless companies. Keeping with good moral AT&T publishes both White and Yellow Pages directories that generate advertising revenue for the company.

In 2006 AT&T was rejuvenated after a merger with BellSouth giving AT&T a logo and new slogan.
