When I was searching for the right college during my senior year of high school, there were a lot of factors to take into consideration. What programs did they offer? How far away is it? What are their statistics for job output and graduates? How big is the campus? As I thought about these questions and did my research, I finally decided that AUM had a lot to offer, and I should take the wonderful opportunity they gave me to further my education. I did not want to go to a huge college, so AUM really stood out to me. They were big enough to still offer a lot of extracurricular activities, so I knew that I could positively get involved on campus. I asked myself: What activity did I want to join? I did not know which major to pursue, but I did know one thing. I knew that I wanted to help people through some type of charity or charity-styled business. I met with my advisor and attended a few convocations where I was able to learn about what all AUM offered. After reviewing the curriculum, I decided that the Communication Department was where I needed to be. Ever since I was in the sixth grade, I was a consumer for the business TOMS. I am not sure if you know what TOMS is, but a lot of people refer to it as the "shoe company." While yes, this is true, they go far beyond selling footwear. They have expanded their inventory to coffee, clothes, eyewear, and bags. The thing that is so extraordinary about their company is that for every product purchased, they provide something for someone in need. For example, for every pair of shoes purchased, TOMS provides a pair of shoes to a child. They also provide clean water, eye glasses, eye treatment, and birthing kits. As I grew older, I started to comprehend what TOMS actually does for our country and world. I became a big advocate for their movement, and I still am today. I wear or use a TOMS product almost every day. What they stand for has become a foundation for how I live my
