AVID is an adventure that you can’t take alone. It is a group of friends that all work together to achieve this one specific goal. We all from AVID form friendly relationships and create happiness not only through personal success, but through the success of others. AVID has given me many tools to succeed both academically and personally. It has taught me how to have balance in my life. When I was introduced to this amazing program I noticed that I was very unorganized and had no confidence and determination to follow my dreams until I became part of this family. AVID isn’t something you can call acquaintance or friends, but family. It has s showed me that reaching my goal of going to a four year or more university is attainable. But, once I became part of AVID I saw how each teacher is interactive with not only each other but their lessons. There are many types of different students that learn differently such as a visual learner or a learner that learns just by listening to the teachers’ voice and words. I am a visual learner; I say it is hard to be a learner like how I am. Most teachers that I knew last year really didn’t teach visually but they just talked and expected us to learn that way. It was hard for me to pass 6th grade with the way teachers taught. I had to get used to it, but it wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. Now that I am in AVID I see and noticed how my AVID teacher Mrs. Ledesma teaches. Not only her but all the teachers I have teach the way I have always wanted it to be. To be honest 7th grade so far hasn’t been easy but I know with the teachers I have they make it easy. Each teacher I know collaborate with each other and they follow the Cornell note method.
