As a policy to combat trafficking in persons, AB 67 authorizes the Attorney General to criminally charge offenders, while protecting, and assisting victims. In 2007, the Southern Nevada Human Trafficking Task Force – formerly Anti-Trafficking League Against Slavery, in 2004 (ATLAS) was established with the purpose of addressing human trafficking from a multidisciplinary approach ("Southern Nevada human,"). Although AB 67 was passed in 2013, a prior organizational structure existed serving as a framework in attaining policy objectives. The purpose of the task force, as specified by the Attorney General, is to provide supportive services to victims, by providing expertise, and resources to combat human trafficking. In order to accomplish this, coalitions were formed between governmental and non-governmental agencies. Since this issue spans across jurisdictions, collaborating agencies were on the federal, state, and local levels of government. The Southern Nevada Human Trafficking Task Force is governed by a steering committee, which provides direction, guidance, and strategy for carrying out policies. Legal partners include US Attorney General’s office and Clark County District Attorney’s office.
