The potential consequences that might occur when my legitimate business is running against a Hells Angels member, who’s principal goal is to launder his dirty money within its business, are countless and would carry huge negative impacts. These impacts could include bankruptcy for legitimate business owners like me, an increase in insurance and health care cost, increase in corruption, increase in violence basically things that could affect businesses and neighborhoods peace of mind. Additionally, the theoretical definition of organized crime that best fits my situation would be Abadinsky’s definition. In the following text, I will be explaining why this definition fits my situation and through this I will expand on the potential consequences of having such a business competing against your own. First of all, it is terrible to have an organized crime member run a business against mine to launder his dirty money.
My clientele decreased with time and a possible reason behind it could be lowered prices in comparison to my prices. I could expect that the new restaurant will or could offer his items at a low value, something so low that I wouldn't have the capacity to make net revenue from even if I lowered my own costs. When a restaurant lowers his prices it’s largely to attract new business and in the case of the new restaurant it was working very well. “These business rivals would be able to undercut prices set for goods and services because they have access to vast amounts of illegally obtained money” (Danis, module 1, slide 4). When they want to make the dirty money legal they use “the act of concealing or transferring to conceal the source of illegally obtained money”(Danis, module 1, slide 4) which defines money laundering. Having a business rival of such nature is a substantial
