Short Story: Too Bad Kid

The wind whistled through the trees bringing with it the laughter of children who once lived there and the call of a mother letting them know dinner was ready. The abandoned house sat on the hill, wishing the morning light would come soon to warm its weary walls. It felt so alone, so empty. How long had it been since it heard the laughter of a precious child? How long had it been since it contained the wonderful smell of a family dinner? Against the dark night sky all anyone could see was the crumbling walls that were nothing more than ghostly traces of a once- lively house. Shawn, a scrawny, thin 15-year old had a bad feeling about this neighborhood ever since he moved back into the abandoned house with his older brother, Justin, and his mom, Sarah. NO!! NOT MOM.. NOT JUSTIN!!!! TAKE MY LIFE!!! PLEASE NOT JUSTIN!!”
“Too bad kid. Life isn’t always what you want. And I’m warning you now...don’t try to stop me … it will only get worse for you ”
“ DAD WAS YOUR BEST FRIEND.. HE ALWAYS TOLD EVERYONE HOW MUCH YOU HELPED HIM!!” Shawn screamed from the top of his lungs, but it was too late, Alfred had already left to seek his revenge.

Shawn quickly grabbed his phone from his book bag and texted his brother to leave the house. He didn’t reply, so he called him.
“Hello?”
“JUSTIN!!”
“Shawn where are you?!? You should have been home three hours ago!”
“That doesn’t matter right now. Just listen to me”
“What’s going on, are you okay”
“I’m fine, but you and mom are in trouble”
“What are you talking about”
“ I was kidnapped by Mr. Morales and he said he was going to get revenge by attacking you and mom first , and then me!”
“This better not be one of your stupid jokes”
“ I SWEAR ITS NOT YOU GUYS ARE IN DANGER!”
“Wait, but.. Mr.Morales?… But he died!”
“Look, I’ll explain later. Just get out of the house and go to the station..and.. Just stay safe.. I’ll meet you
