A wise woman named Kathleen Winsor once said, “Adultery is not a crime, it's an amusement.” In Salem 1692, 19 women and men were convicted of using witchcraft and associating with the devil. Who exactly was the cause of all these executions? Abigail Williams. First, Abigail is most at fault for the accusations, trials, and consequences because John Proctor told her that he didn’t love her and she got jealous because he loves Elizabeth. Abigail took it too far when she got so jealous she screamed at him saying “Oh, I marvel how such a strong man may let such a sticky wife be-“ It clearly set her off enough to get angry and try to do magic to make Proctor fall in love with her.
