Through harsh rejection and preposterous delusions, Abigail Williams abused her good name and became the fault for the bitter ends of many for something they were not guilty of. I have reread significant sections of The Crucible several times and have read and analyzed it to the best of my ability on multiple occasions. Once reading this book in my Honors English Course at the number one high school in the state of California, we carefully analyzed the characters, going as far as even making character charts, to understand them and their intentions much better. Abigail WIlliams, who is at fault for the Salem Witch Trials, held verbal power and influence over the girls which led to the sentenced hanging of many, and acted unwisely on the galling
Abigail first commits adultery with Elizabeth Proctor’s husband John Proctor. Later on, she accuses people of doing witchcraft which causes their life. Abigail Williams uses the Salem Witch Trials to put out all the resentment she has towards everyone. From this broad accusation, it shows how weak the human beings really are, and how greediness and to want for personal gaining. Many people die in the village after a series of lies and unjust practices.
Gross corruption is when somebody is willing to procure anything out of greed or selfishness to gain money and power. One of many examples from “The Crucible” is Abigail Williams, Reverend Parris’s niece, she wants to be with John Proctor, but she is willing to anything to get rid of his wife, Elizabeth Proctor. Out of envy, Abigail accused Elizabeth of witchcraft, knowing that Goody Proctor would be executed. Envy is one of the toxins in our society today, and my assumption to get rid of envy is to praise each other, and be more grateful for what we possessed. Instead of bring another person down, bring yourself up, and work harder.
Lust can drive a woman insane A man cannot serve to masters. You can only serve one person and in this case is your spouse that you married and loved. Don’t let others interfere with your marriage or let them tempt you.
In The Crucible by Arthur Miller, Miller introduces the idea, apparent in today’s world, that sometimes people blame others to save themselves from punishment through the characters’ actions and the asides from Miller. The most prominent character that displays this theme is Abigail Williams. Several times Abigail pushes the blame on others when she senses trouble. When Parris finds the girls dancing in the forest, Abigail knows she has to do something to avoid punishment.
Have you ever blamed your younger sibling for something you did just so you would not get in trouble? That is what Abigail Williams did in The Crucible, yet she blamed the townspeople of Salem, Massachusetts resulting in a massive witchcraft hysteria. The witchcraft hysteria was a tremendous outbreak of multiple irrelevant trials causing 20 people to get hung. All these deaths and trials were all caused by one girl, Abigail Williams. I think Abigail Williams is responsible for the witchcraft hysteria because she lied about getting stabbed with a needle and she blamed everybody else for being a witch but herself.
Abby forced the girl to not tell anyone what happen that night of the incident because if they told she was going to kill whoever. “She sends her spirit on me in church; she makes me laugh at prayer!” (Miller 156). Abigail deceitful words had a horrible impact on Titubu falsely conjuring spirits. Abigail thrown all the guilt on Titubu because she doesn’t have no say of what anybody thinks of her.
Elizabeth blames herself for Johns cheating; She blames herslef due to being so sick and unable to show John any affection. This shows how hard Elizabeth is on herself; she can not control her depression yet she still defends John no matter the circumstance. Abigail is overall a very selfish and disobedient teen who wants everything her way and will not accept anything less and Elizabeth can be too selfless and blames everything on

In the play, it is revealed that she has been dancing in the woods with girls of Salem and performing voodoo with her uncle’s slave, Tituba. Dancing is a very big sin in Salem, dancing is one of the signs of witchcraft so when rumors of witchcraft begin to circulate through the town Abigail and Betty start naming people as witches in order to divert suspicion from themselves.
The Salem Witch Trials were a terrible time. Many innocent people were killed because they were suspected of using witchcraft. While many focus on the horror of the witch hunt, some look to the people who conducted the hunts to find out why this happened and who is to blame. Abigail Williams is to blame for the deaths of all the innocent people in the Salem Witch Trials because she pretended to see the devil in people just so she could have one person dead.
Abigail Williams, the whore who points fingers, is known for going to bed to bed in the play The Crucible by Arthur Miller. Abigail begins to show me her true character through the scene describing her dancing in the woods. While they were in the woods Abigail was setting a spell on John Proctor's wife.
