The play takes place in 1692 in Salem, Massachusetts, where the Salem witch trials took place. This play is about the Struggles that came from many innocent people dying because of the accusations of a lying group of girls. The big question is: who is to blame for all the deaths of innocent people? Abigail Williams is to blame for the whole ordeal. She is the leader of the girls and the first to start the accusations. Abigail Williams was a servant for John and Elizabeth Proctor, but the got fired when John confessed to his wife that he and Abigail had been having an affair. Abigail was heartbroken because she loved John. One night she went to the woods with some girls to seek out Tituba’s “magic”. So she could get rid of Elizabeth Proctor and have John all to herself. That backfired when her uncle ,Reverend Parris, showed up and caught the. Betty, Abby’s cousin, “fainted” and would not wake, to avoid getting in trouble for dancing and Abigail accuses Tituba of witchcraft so no one would find out that she was trying to get rid of Goody Proctor. Her power finally back fined when she tried to accuse Elizabeth so she could be with John. Abigail loved John that is why she accused Elizabeth ,his wife, of witchcraft. This plan was almost ruined when John went to the court with an Affidavit from mary Warren, one of Abigail’s girls saying that the whole time the girls were lying. When the judge did not take it, John snapped and confessed to the affair he had with Abigail. Abigail then threw a fit saying she saw mary Warren’s spirit as a bird flying around the courtroom. Mary could not go against Abigail anymore so she switched her story and told the judge that John Proctor was controlling her. He was then hanged along with Rebecca Nurse and Martha Corey.
