Reputation
Reputation is a "widespread belief that someone or something has a particular habit or characteristic." The Crucible was written in 1692 by Arthur Miller. People have their own complications to clarify what they need or what they want in life. Yes, everyone is divergent in their own way but they do have similarities and differences. Each character plays an important role in the Salem witch trials. Abigail Williams, Reverend Parris, and Rebecca Nurse have contrasting reputations concerning their lives. Each individual is unalike in the following ways: brave, selfish, lustful, devilish, kind hearted and etc. Do not let anyone change, just follow your heart and make right decisions in life whether its right or wrong. She is the main character that stirs up everything in Salem. "She was the niece of the minister, starts the witch hunt with her accusations. In love with John Proctor, she accuses Elizabeth which is Johns wife to eliminate her as an obstacle." She is a beautiful and willful young lady that is open with society to express her difficult behavior and change her into a witch scare. Abigail sees the community of Salem, Massachusetts, very uneasy because it inspection of witchcraft. When she was a child, she watched both her parents die which could be the cause of her actions. Elizabeth knows that Abigail and her husband John had something going on. Although she goes through abounding efforts to get what she thirsts for by manipulating others, however, she fails. Since Abigail was close to getting exposed with witchcraft, she used her power to manipulate innocent people to get whatever she desires even if she has to assassinate someone. Her position has comparisons and characteristics with Rebecca Nurse and Reverend Parris. The relationship between them is that they all have their own reputation and complications. Contrasts between these characters are the following: antagonistic, willful, self-centered, considerate, powerless, overly suspicious, goodness and etc. Abigail's name is not more relevant than the truth. She is self-centered, sneaky, eager, anxious about no one else but himself, and absence of redeemable qualities. Parris was concerned about his reputation because, "He was terrified if people thought he had witchcraft in his household and he will lose his position as minister of Salem: PARRIS, studies her, then nods, half convinced: Abigail, I have fought here three long years to bend these stiff-necked people to me, and now, just now when some good respect is rising for me in the parish, you compromise my very character. Parris was probably rattled but he wasn't suitable. Parris and Abigail are both greedy, selfish, deceitful and Rebecca is the complete opposite. Parris good name is not more important than the truth. The point is he died mostly about everything for superb and awful reasons to free his life. He was still a sneaky snake.
