Each day, each minute, each second that passed, dragged on longer than the last. It left a gaping hole in the shape of her father so fresh and significant in their lives, which was far too painful to fill. Her Mother had tried so hard to remain strong, but now she broke down more and more often, crumbling just like all the buildings in the street. Today, abortion still one of the most controversial topics in our communities, some with the Idea that it's wrong (pro-life) and others that is totally okay that women should have control over their body (pro-choice). Even though, it became legal in 1973, there are a big amount of people opposing abortion as a moral wrong. In this paper I would like to talk about three different theories on abortion. First, the structural functionalist, second the conflict perspective theory and third the symbolic Interaction theory.

Argumentative Analysis of Abortion Rights Abortion is a controversial topic and people have debated between “Pro-Choice”, a woman’s right to choose, as well as “Pro-Life”, strictly anti-abortion, for decades. For Abortion Rights Action Week, a Harvard College newspaper printed an opinion-based article by Tanya Luhrmann called, The Pro-Choice Argument. Based on Luhrmann’s research, she presents a strongly reasoned argument between “Pro-Choice” and “Pro-Life”, and how the perspectives of both sides affects the irreplaceable relationship of a mother and child.

Thesis Statement: Abortion has been a major topic throughout the years, there has been much debate between pro-choice and pro-life but if people can come together to reach comprises it could help society make positive progress. There are many different views and opinions on abortion in today’s world. Some would say that abortion is wrong and others would say it is right; and some would say it is wrong or right depending on the circumstances. This is when complications surface and people began to look at all aspects of the situation. Abortion has always been a controversial social issue but not as potent as the year 2016 and 2017.
A second reason why abortion is wrong is because it deprives the fetus from his future. When we decide to kill a fetus then we are taking away from him a future like ours. The argument is as follows : (1) it is impermissible to kill humans, who if lived, would have a future like ours, (2) if abortion is not done, the fetus would have future as we do have, (3) so it is wrong to kill the fetus (4) therefore abortion is impermissible. A similar argument was given by Don Marquis in his article “Why Abortion is Immoral”. He stated that what makes killing wrong is neither the effect on the murder, nor the effect on the victim’s relatives or friends, but the effect is on the victim himself.
The conflict over abortion in America has been a major social problem in our nation for decades. During the 1960 's and 70 's with the coinciding civil rights movement and women’s rights movement, abortion became the new national issue that we still see today between two opposing ideologies, grouped into sides coined as pro-life and pro-choice. It is one of the biggest debates over whose morals and beliefs are adequate for our society that make the abortion issue such a controversial and divisive one.
