Legalized and regulated abortion has been proven to be a safe medical procedure that prioritizes the well-being of both individuals involved. (pro-con) When abortion is illegal or highly restricted, women may resort to unsafe methods, posing significant risks to their health and lives. What are the women that experience those pregnancies do? This is particularly true for those facing unexpected or unwanted pregnancies, a situation that often affects teenage women, especially those who are low-income and predominantly from marginalized communities, such as Black women.(pro-con) When faced with an unintended pregnancy, women find themselves in complex and challenging circumstances. Some may lack the financial resources, emotional support, or stability necessary to provide a nurturing environment for a child. Surprisingly, around 45% of all abortions are unsafe, where 97% of them take place in developing countries.(WHO) By allowing legal access to abortion, women can make informed decisions about their reproductive health, taking into account their personal circumstances and overall well-being.
