I read Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter a 336 page novel by Seth Grahame-Smith, the story is told by a store owner that is given eleven journals by a, at the time, stranger who had been visiting his shop regularly. He tells the story through both his interpretation of the journals and through excerpts of the journals. It can be assumed that; the majority of the story takes place throughout Abe’s late childhood to his death, although the story does give us some background regarding his childhood and the beginning of the main plot. Eventually he finds a lead on a possible vampire, but with his limited knowledge on vampires and little to no experience hunting them he ends up almost killed. If not for Henry, a vampire, Abe would have died; Henry takes Abe in and helps nurse him back to health,. Although their relationship starts out rocky, especially with Abe doubting Henry’s intentions after finding out that henry is a vampire, they begin to form a solid relationship mostly after Henry tells Abe to “Judge us not equally,” a phrase Abe remembers throughout all his life. Once Abe is all healed, Henry offers to properly train Abe in how to hunt, track, and kill vampires. Even though Abe won the presidency, the confederates were gaining on them since they were sending in vampires to fight. Abe, seeing no other choice, decided to tell his cabinet about the existence of vampires and how to hunt them. As expected some members didn’t believe him, but the eventually gave in after seeing proof. This helped them some, but they needed more, this lead to the Emancipation Proclamation which started an uprising among slaves causing them to fight back against their owner, human and vampire alike. This greatly helped lead them to victory, but not without the cost of Abe’s son Willie. After Willie’s death Henry offer to turn Willie into a vampire, see how depressed Abe was over his son, but the offer only lead Abe to anger, and eventually caused him to ban any vampire from giong near him, ruining his friendship with
