The Assassination of Abraham Lincoln
The Assassination of Abraham Lincoln changed America forever. Lincoln’s assassination happened on April 14th, 1865 at Ford’s Theatre. A famous actor and Confederate sympathizer, John Wilkes Booth, shot Abraham Lincoln. Booth’s plan was to kidnap Lincoln and take him to Richmond, VA, but failed. Abraham Lincoln made a huge impact in our history as President (History.com, 1).
John Wilkes Booth was the one who shot Abraham Lincoln. Booth wanted to kill him. Booth and several associates created a plan to kidnap the President and take him to Richmond, VA and kill him. Booth’s plan failed (History.com, 1).

The surgeons found that the bullet clattered into a waiting basin during the doctors’ removal of Lincoln’s brain. During the autopsy, Mary Lincoln sent a note requesting that clip a piece of Lincoln’s hair for her. The president’s corpse was taken to the White House, and on April 18th it was taken to the Capitol rotunda. On April 21st, his body was taken on a train that took his body to Springfield, Illinois, where he lived before he became president. Lincoln and his son, Willie, who died of typhoid fever in 1862, were buried on May 4th, 1865, at Oak Ridge Cemetery (History.com, 3) In conclusion, Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of the United States from 1861-1865. Lincoln was shot by John Wilkes Booth on April 14th, 1865 at Ford’s Theatre in Washington, D.C. He did a lot while he was President of the United States. Lincoln didn’t deserve to be killed. Lincoln’s killer, John Wilkes Booth, is a Maryland native born in 1838 who was in the North during the Civil War. Vice President Andrew Johnson took Lincoln’s place after he was shot.
