The Assassination of Abraham Lincoln changed America forever. Lincoln’s assassination happened on April 14th, 1865 at Ford’s Theatre. A famous actor and Confederate sympathizer, John Wilkes Booth, shot Abraham Lincoln. Booth’s plan was to kidnap Lincoln and take him to Richmond, VA, but failed. Abraham Lincoln made a huge impact in our history as President (History.com, 1).
John Wilkes Booth was the one who shot Abraham Lincoln. Booth wanted to kill him. Booth and several associates created a plan to kidnap the President and take him to Richmond, VA and kill him. Booth’s plan failed (History.com, 1).

Lincoln’s killer, John Wilkes Booth, is a Maryland native born in 1838 who was in the North during the Civil War. Vice President Andrew Johnson took Lincoln’s place after he was shot.
