Mr. Abraham Lincoln: Dear Mister President, Allow me to start by saying thank you for permitting me to be a guest at your second inauguration. It was one of the greatest experiences. I was extremely elated. It has always been a dream of mine to compose a speech for you and to hear you speak was the ultimate honor. I will always cherish your kind words in that moment. I recall that night so vividly as if it was just last night. I remember you asked my thoughts on your speech, I wanted to use this opportunity to talk to you about the dehumanization that slavery creates for slaves and their “masters”. Throughout much of my life I was a slave to the white man. I was, nonetheless, luckier than most. I was able to become a freeman, and have
