Power can corrupt people because power gives you more authority and certain types of people abuse their authority and that can lead to corruption. There are examples in real life of how power can corrupt people. Before Macbeth got power, he was a good person. Macbeth was loyal to his king and didn’t even want to kill his king, but once Macbeth did get power he showed no mercy to anyone. When Macbeth gained power he got corrupted and when his wife (Lady Macbeth) died, he just shrugged it off like nothing and gave an excuse and said “She would have died later anyway. Macbeth was loyal to his king. Until he was approached by 3 witches who told him to kill his king for more power. This was in Act 2 sentence 2. At first Macbeth was hesitant but once he murdered Duncan, he got more power and once he got more power he wanted more. He showed no mercy to anyone and would go on to force his soldiers to fight, not with love but because they got told to. Before Macbeth murdered his king, he admired him deeply and was loyal. But when the idea of getting more power got to his head by his manipulative wife, Lady Macbeth got him to murder King Duncan and after that he felt sorry but the thought of getting more power made him seek out more and caused him to be corrupt. Macbeth didn’t give a second thought when he murdered Duncan, he never thought about what would happen to the kingdom. How chaos can spread throughout the entire kingdom and beyond. Macbeth visits the 3 witches once more because he wants more and more power. Macbeth is willing to do anything for more power and since he has so much desire for power he believes everything the witches say.
