In the story out of my mind, sharon Draper, the author, conveys a moral of the story even in some way she gets to share the theme too. Throughout the story Sharon Draper shares the theme of acceptance with us. She does this by slowly but thoroughly making conflict and conveying cliff hangers. At the start of the book Sharon Draper adds a Quote to the story to make the theme stronger. For Instance on page 19 in chapter 4 Dr. Hugely, Melodies doctor specialist shared to melody in a guilty voice “we’re going to play a game today” immediately melody thought to herself “ it's going to be a long, long hour.” this shows how melody has her ups and downs through life like dr. In addition “the only person who got a one hundred percent is…… Melody Brooks.” this being announced by the teacher. This connected to the theme of acceptance because melody is accepting the fact that all eyes are on her and how she has to step up to fit into her role, that is being picked as one of the smartest brightest child. In other words she has all the credit now and is enjoying one of the many times in the future where she will be actually recognised for a good action. Tieng to the theme of acceptance more examples from the text will support this theme. Going back to the beginning of the book melodys mom and dad had to accept melody into their life and know that it will be challenging trying to raise a child with cerebral palsy, but they persevered through and ended up with a amazing and bright child.Finally at the end of the book, the part when the theme was distributed the most. This is where the book changed, Melody was going to go to the quiz team finals in D.C but unfortunately the team left her behind like a piece of trash.
