Fame is a tricky thing. The famous are expected to keep a good image and be role models for their fans while being under the limelight, but individuals aren’t perfect. Eventually even the famous show their true colors. Great athletes are admired because they are so visible to the public, but often they do such unforgivable things that to this day they are best remembered by their accomplishments off the field. Many lost thousands of fans, millions of dollars in endorsements, and ruined their legacy forever. Whether it’s on TV, at a game, or in their homes athletes are constantly watched every single day by millions of people. Simpson. He was involved in a homicide case that is still talked about to this day. His life has been portrayed in books and movies, but the focus isn’t his athletic accomplishments. O.J. Simpson was a very successful professional football player during the 1970’s. He was an excellent running back for the Buffalo Bills and the San Francisco 49ers. After playing football, since he was charismatic and knew the game very well, he became a football commentator on TV and even appeared in a few movies. But in 1994, things took a turn for the worse. He was accused of domestic violence against his wife, Nicole Brown Simpson and eventually was a suspect in her horrific murder. Although he was never convicted, many believe he was responsible. His reputation never recovered. Even years later, Simpson couldn’t escape his troubles with the law. He was arrested for stealing at gunpoint in Lad Vegas and he was sentenced to jail. Vick was the leader of a ring of illegal dogfights in his own backyard. His actions were horrific and hurtful to loving animals such as dogs. Vicks made his pit bulls fight pet dogs for his own entertainment. The dogs that didn’t perform up to his sickening standards were physically harmed. The creatures were shot, electrocuted, and even drowned. He organized these fights in his own home and also at other properties. When the police finally found out about what was going on under his supervision, Vicks denied everything even though there was a lot of evidence that clearly pointed to his guilt. Eventually, Vick admitted to all the crimes he committed and he was sent to prison for less than two years. He was suspended from playing football with no pay, but he returned soon after. Along the way, he lost the respect of many fans, but even to this day there are people who support him despite his downright inhumane actions.
