Forged by Hephaestus, this shield portrays the story of the Achaeans and their fighting against the Trojans in a microcosm of the larger story. It symbolizes life beyond the battlefield and To gain insight and actually understand the shield, you must look at the different scenes being depicted, such as the happenings within the two cities and the King’s Estate.
