Both the Integration Statue (the first image) and the Legacy Fountain (the second image) are made of bronze. Bronze was used for the creation of these monuments because it is able to withstand being damaged in natural ways, such as rusting and cracking. The scale of the Integration Statue is much bigger than that of the Legacy Fountain in a portrait view; however, the Legacy Fountain has a wider scale to it when compared to the Integration Statue. The Integration Statue also encompasses more authority due to its large portrait or vertical view and could be seen from a far distance, while the statues in the Legacy Fountain must be seen from a closer distance. Both of the monuments are situated in locations where they have a certain distance
The statue became a beacon of hope in a way. It stood for a new age in America and a powerful way of protesting and getting their point across. That being said I believe that the visual elements of this image symbolize hope for many Americans. The colors give off a vibe of strength. The blue is bright insisting that they were not scared and are ready to fight for what is right.
The Equestrian Statue of Marcus Aurelius and Justinian as World Conqueror both depict the power, prestige and clemency of a political figures. Yet, both are distinct in their artistic representation which I’ll discuss below. The Equestrian Statue of Marcus Aurelius is in Greco-Roman style. It’s statue in the round; it has dominant shapes that are round and realistic.
The need to memorialize events or people is complex; in some cases, monuments honor moments of great achievement, while in other cases, monuments pay homage to deep sacrifice. A monument 's size, location, and materials are all considerations in planning and creating a memorial to the past. In any case, the need to honor or pay homage to a specific person or event is prevalent within society. A monument has to mean something to the society it is place in. The location of a monument is perhaps the most important aspect of creating a successful monument to honor and show respect to a person or event.
The designs on the artwork are in black on red panels that had the borders of lotus and honeysuckle on the top. Most importantly, the artwork displayed a scene of combat among the Greek gods and goddess named Ares, Athena, Hercules, and Kyknos.
For the Classical art sculpture (picture attached below), I decided to focus on the Bronze statue of Zeus. Zeus is portrayed as a naked Heroic God. His left arm and foot plunge towards the direction of his aim and his right arm is bent with his right foot also a little bend back. You can tell that Zeus would definitely be holding his trident. This statue is three-dimensional and makes a good example of anatomy.
Yep, all valid points.. I mean, it 's just about everyone having the same rights as the person next to them. It 's well known I am not the first one out the door with sparkalers when it comes to gay pride.. I didn 't even know the the ruling happened until I logged into facebook last night and saw one of my friend 's bashing comments about it. Pride is pride, everyone has the right to equal rights, regardless of race, gender, oriontation.
The interior of the monument is built of Georgia marble and with pink floors that consist of Tennessee marble. A growing problem in the United States has been the removal of Confederate Civil War Memorials. When posed with the question “What should the United States do with/about Confederate Civil War memorials and statues?” I would side with those opposed to the removal. Today I will share with you my three main reasons why these Confederate Civil War memorials should not be removed. First, history repeats itself and if future generations cannot learn from the past we will be no better off in the future.
The last section of book 18 is a Homer’s description of Achilles’ shield, a magnificent piece of art made by Hephaestus, God of the forge. The shield ekphrasis in the Iliad is one of the most famous and most important examples of the poetic device when a poet uses words to 'paint' the picture of an object. This device effectively brings the scenes on the shield to life, creating a sensory experiences and abstractions for the audience. In the cinematic description of Achilles’ shield, Homer’s poetically captures the world in which the Iliad take place. A number of scenes on the shield are related to the content of the previous books.

Song of Achilles, written by Madeline Miller, delves into the intricate world of Patroclus, the son of the renowned king Menoitiades and simplistic mother who is deemed incapable of ruling due to her unsuitable characteristics. Menoitiades, often disparages and resents Patroclus for his weakness and alleged stupidity. Despite Patroclus’ young age, his father forces him to attend a gathering for suitors to determine who will bear king Tyndareus’ daughter, Helen, as wife. Following a collective oath to protect Helen, Menelaus is chosen as Helen’s suitor, leaving Menoitiades enraged.
Civil War Monuments The Confederate monuments from the Civil War in many cities, colleges, and universities are being asked to be taken down. The monuments are causing problems between the U.S. citizens. Many people are protesting and saying that the monuments are a symbol of racism, and symbolism of traitors to the U.S., and are used to show white supremacy. These monuments should be taken down from the public but they should not be destroyed.
Although the word “hero” has transcended time, the definition has not. When modern-day humans go into reading about Greek heroes, expecting them to resemble our current ones, they are unpleasantly surprised to find selfish people who sometimes indiscriminately murder in the name of honor. In comparison, we value the firefighter that puts their life on the line to save others, the person standing up to the bully with pacifism rather than fists, and those that learn to forgive and forget instead of spending their entire lives seeking revenge on those that have wronged them. Thus, Achilles would not be considered a modern-day hero like he was in ancient Greece, because whilst they valued glory, brutal strength, and revenge, today we value selflessness,
This statue of Zeus I recognized right away. A key attribute to Zeus is his beard and when I saw this statue I automatically assumed it was him. He normally is seen with a beard, looking like an older man, along with a lightning bolt. Even though he does not have any other attribute along with him in this statue it looks very similar to other ones that I have seen of him before. There are countless amounts of stories and myths about Zeus.
