William Blake’s poems tend to explore romanticism, which is the exploration of feelings and strong emotions. A Poison Tree explores the emotion of anger and the power to forgive. Robert Frost’s poem Acquainted with the Night explores the emotions of sadness and loneliness. While A Poison Tree aims to communicate a message Acquainted with the Night explores a story of a person who cannot feel happy and can not communicate with the world. Blake is trying to explain to the reader the futility of being angry with anyone and the detriment of holding those feelings inside. A Poison Tree explores how the human emotions are different to those who we like and those who we dislike and it tries to teach the reader to treat all as a friend. Acquainted
