Ad comparative analysis
The two ads I have chosen are from the 2012 spring collection of issues in Vogue. The two ads I have are both perfume ads; one being Miss Dior by Dior, the other Flowerbomb by Viktor&Rolf. These two ads are pages apart with the issue but they both stuck out to me based on their color concepts and similar composition.
In the first advert, Miss Dior we have a bandwagon appeal, those that are fans of actress Natalie Porter will be drawn to the ad, also those that have previously purchased Dior will be drawn in. In addition there is a sexual appeal, due to the audience of the particular magazine, the sexual appeal is not meant to attract or arouse, it is meant to entice and empower, the ad is saying

The pink of the veil alludes to innocence yet there is but the models nudity negates it; unlike the nudity in the first ad this ad is much more seductive and promiscuous. The light color background makes the black ribbon stand out even more especially when wrapped around the body of the woman. Center stage is the bottle of perfume combining both colors used in the advertisement: pink and black. The color pink can also represent a flower hence its name “Flowerbomb”. The obscuring of the models face by the vail that turns into a flower allows for another plow at name dropping as well as giving the opportunity for a view to maybe see herself as the model, This characteristic makes her appear sexy and dangerous while holding a grenade in her hand but also innocent due to the flower.
