the first female to be hung in Louisiana was Ada LeBoeuf. She was convicted of murder in 1927. Ada LeBoeuf murdered James LeBoeuf along with the help of Thomas dreher. She and Thomas had planned to get rid of poor James because with her husband around Ada and Thomas they could not openly show their love for each other. Ada led her husband into a trap by inviting him on a moonlit boat ride at lake Palourde, but when he arrived he soon found out Thomas had hired a gunman to kill James who's name was coincidentally also James, James Beadle fired a pair of shots from a shotgun and killed James LeBoeuf. First was Ada who was the first white woman executed in Louisiana and the 24th woman executed in the United States. Adas last meal was not recorded because at the time the papers were more concerned about the statistics of women executions in America at the time but her last words were “My mother, my mother!, Isn’t this a terrible thing. That rope is too tight around my neck. Oh, yes it is.” No one ranked Thomas among the executed, but reporters did state that he paced his cell moaning and wailing. His final words were “Oh, God. Have mercy on my soul. Just don’t let me choke to death.” His last wish came true because just like his lover he died instantly after the lever was pulled. Beadle testified for the state in return for a life sentence in the Louisiana prison system therefore escaping the gallows. Before the murder, James LeBoeuf found out about the couple and threatened to expose Thomas so, Thomas enlisted the help of Beadle and convinced Ada that murder was the only solution.
