In chapter V the monster has been created and has realized he is ugly and does not have a place in the world. In season 4 of Buffy, Adam, a modern Frankenstein’s monster has been created secretly by the government. Both of the “monsters” question their existence and find themselves as recluses to the community earning for a friend and becoming violent due to lack of love. The creations wonder the reason their creators want to destroy them after they have just been created. Victor’s creature and Adam in Buffy display the misuse of technology and power shown by scientists and the government.

A few similarities that the author found: Adam and the monster both want to discover the world and the purpose they serve within it, they also want to figure out who they are and not what they are because they recognize the fact they are not like regular humans. The concept of discovering who the creatures are is interesting because many humans never discover their true self; the monsters understand life more than most humans which can be viewed as a push for humans to grasp their life. Another view of life both stories offer is the message of the dangers of science and allows for a realization of the effects of misusing technology.
