As I enter and look for parking at the museum Addison Gallery of American Art, I take a quick glance at the building and it looked like a big museum. When I enter the building, I noticed that there were two large rooms with art frame pictures around the walls. There was nothing on top of the floor; one of my first impressions was to ask, “why don’t they use the full size room?”. As I see different pictures in every room, including the second floor, there was one picture that got my attention. It was a medium sized frame artwork with a picture of a young boy. The height of the frame picture is 23.5 inches and the width is 17.5 inches. William learned to draw at a young age. He went to Harvard College for two years. The third year, his widowed mother took him and her four children to the south of France in 1844. After a year of being in the South of France, William went to Paris and became a pupil of Thomas Couture from 1846 to 1852. He returned to the United States in 1854 and two years later moved to Newport, Rhode Island, where he painted and took a few pupils. Hunt settled in Boston, Massachusetts, where his portraits grew. In 1872 something terrible happened, the great Boston fire, where it destroyed William Hunt’s Summer Street studio and his collection of French paintings. William Morris then drowned off to the coast of Appledore, New Hampshire in 1879 (“Smithsonian American Art museum”). William has 131 art work painting. One of painting is called The Spanish Boy, made between 1860 -1870’s. The painting was made of oil on canvas. In this painting I see a young boy sitting down looking at something on his right side. He also looks like he 's sad or thinking about something. The composition I see is his cheeks and eyes, composition means the first thing you look at when you peer at an image.
